Dance Team

The Mount Union Dance Team, a student organization with tryouts open to all students, provides entertainment at all home football and basketball games and various campus events in an effort to promote school spirit throughout the year.

The team is under the direction of two captains (upperclass students) and a coach, Dawn Pierson. The captains choreograph several routines while also receiving help from a choreographer. Practice is held Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, during the evening. Routines typically include jazz, hip-hop, pom, and lyrical elements. The Dance Team season lasts the entire school year, or September-April.

In the past, the Dance Team has performed at a number of special venues, including the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl and pre-game of a Cleveland Cavaliers game. Also, the team is currently working on becoming a college-level competition dance team.
The Dance Team participates in a number of fundraisers during the year to offset costs of uniforms and other apparel. Members of the team are expected to participate in fundraisers and may be asked to purchase uniforms pieces, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and other miscellaneous dance items such as tan jazz boots, tights, etc.
