The University of Mount Union is on a list of "50 Best Colleges for Female Athletes" in a ranking done by niche.com.
The Purple Raiders were the highest ranked Ohio school at No. 28, three spots ahead of Ohio State.
The rankings are out of 703 colleges based on NCAA Championship appearances, percentage of female students participating in varsity sports, and over 200,000 student opinions from nearly 75,000 students.
A high ranking indicates that the program has performed well in NCAA Tournaments and athletes are given the support and resources they need to succeed both on and off the field.
Mount Union won its third straight Ohio Athletic Conference Women's All-Sports Trophy as the Raiders won OAC titles in cross country, volleyball, swimming and diving, lacrosse, indoor and outdoor track and field with a second place finish in golf. The Raiders also won OAC Tournament titles in volleyball and lacrosse.
As an athletic department, Mount Union was 17th overall in NCAA Division III in the Learfield Directors Cup standings. On the women's side, Mount Union's women's lacrosse team advanced to the NCAA regional semifinals, the volleyball team won an NCAA tournament match while women's cross country and track and field competed in their respective NCAA championship events.
