ALLIANCE, Ohio -- University of Mount Union men's and women's basketball teams visited Parkway Elementary School in Alliance and read to the students.

It has become an annual tradtion for the last few years that the student-athletes have made the trip to the elementary school that sits just off the campus.

"We looked a few years ago for a way to get involved in the community and this has worked out very well," commented head men's basketball coach Lee Hood.

The student-athletes are dispatched in groups of two or three to classrooms thoughout the building and read a couple of stories and answer questions that the students have.

"It is a neat experience and know that everyone at the school looks forward to us coming and appreciate it," stated Mount Union senior Dave Pellerite (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls), who has done this for four years.

"The kids hang on every word and they ask some interesting questions," said sophomore Kori Wiedt (North Olmsted/North Olmsted).
