Rules

Field

·         Rectangular field

·         Dimensions

-  80 yards long by 40 yards wide

-  End zones 20 yards deep

Game Play

·         Two 20 minutes halves (running clock)

·         3 minute halftime

·         Each team has 1 timeout per half

Teams

·         8 players per team on the field at once

·         Minimum of 6

Initiating Play

·         Each point begins with both teams lining up on the front of their respective end zone line.  The defense throws the disc to the offense.

Scoring

·         A point is scored when the offense completes a pass in the defense’s end zone

·         Play is initiated after each score (see above)

Change of Possession

·         Anytime a pass is not completed

-   Out of bounds, dropped, blocked, intercepted, etc.

·         Defense takes the disc and is now on offense

Substitutions

·         Takes place after a score or during an injury timeout

No Contact

·         No physical contact is allowed between players

-  Includes picks and screens

·         Foul occurs when contact is made

Fouls

·         When a player initiates contact on another player

·         If foul disrupts possession, play resumes as if the team never lost possession

Self Refereeing

·         Players responsible for own foul calls and line calls

Spirit of the Game

·         Stress sportsmanship and fair play

·         Competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of respect between players, adherence to the rules, and the basic joy of play

Pregame

·         Coin toss or disc toss determines who receives disc first and defends what goal

Overtime

·         2 minute period

·         Team winning at end of 2 minutes is the winner

·         Games ends in a tie if still tied after overtime
