Three Mount Union Baseball Players Named All-OAC; Ferrell First Raider on First Team Since 2007
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio--Mount
Union junior centerfielder Greg Ferrell
(Uniontown/Green) was named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference
First Team while junior shortstop Matt Tracy
(Pittsburgh/Central Catholic), senior catcher Connor Nell
(Powell/Olentangy) were each honorable mention selections tabbed by
the conference's 10 head coaches.
Ferrell is the first Mount Union player since pitcher Shawn Kerek
in 2007 to be an All-OAC First Team selection and has been selected
for a third-straight year as he was an honorable mention pick in
2008 and on the second team in 2009. He started in 34
contests leading the team in batting average (.389), home runs (9),
triples (4), doubles, stolen bases (10) and matched his single
season record with 18 doubles. The reigning national gold glove
winner also finished the season with 92 put-outs while recording
only one error.
Tracy, who was an All-OAC Second Team pick at second base last
year, started all 35 games at shortstop this year and posted a .362
batting average with five doubles and 21 RBI, while Nell played in
34 games, hit .365, drove in 28 runs and had two home runs.
The trio led Mount Union to a 15-20 record in
2010
