AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- Mount Union's baseball suffered a pair of close losses, 7-6 and 4-2 to Clark (Mass.) Monday in Auburndale, Fla.

In game one, Clark (5-1) scored four unanswered runs in the final two innings for a come from behind 7-6 victory.

In the top of the seventh, the Cougars took advantage of a hit batter, two wild pitches and a passed ball to tie the game and take the lead.

Mount Union (1-3) started the scoring in the second inning as third baseman Craig Knott (Canton/GlenOak) led off the inning with a single and later came around to score on a sacrifice fly RBI from catcher Ty Wood (Hudson/Hudson).

Clark would then take the lead, 3-1, with three runs in the top of the third before the Raiders got one of those runs back in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI triple from centerfielder Greg Ferrell (Uniontown/Green) to close the gap to 3-2.

Wood drove in two more runs with his first home run of the season in the fourth inning to give the lead back to Mount Union, 4-3.

The Raiders then manufactured two more runs in the fifth as second baseman Matt Tracy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) reached base on a bunt single to start the inning.  Ferrell then reached on an error then on the next at-bat Knott had an RBI single.   Later Ferrell and Knott executed a double steal of third and second respectively and Ferrell would score to make it 6-3 on a sacrifice fly RBI from first baseman Dan Henderson (Canton/GlenOak).

Three hits and a walk in the sixth plated two runs for Clark to begin its comeback.

Wood drove in three runs and Knott had three hits to lead the Raiders.

Mike Lamothe took the win as he allowed only one hit over the last three innings.

Closer Cory Douglass (Independence/Walsh Jesuit) took the loss, while Matt Murzynski (Mentor/Lake Catholic) struck out seven and went six innings in his first-ever college start.

Game two was scoreless until the fourth inning when Clark plated four runs on four hits to take a 4-0 lead.  The big hit was a two-out, two-RBI single from Sean Lamothe.

Mount Union rallied in the fifth scoring two runs on back-to-back RBI singles from freshman right fielder Ricky Olasz (West Mifflin, Pa/West Mifflin) and Tracy to cut the deficit to 4-2. The duo ended up stranded on base as Clark went to its bullpen again and this time Phillip Bertocci allowed only two hits over the final 2.2 innings to close the door.

Zach Carlino (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) took the loss for the Raiders as he allowed three earned runs and struck out four over four innings in his first-ever college start.
