COLUMBUS, Ohio -- After falling 9-6 in the opener, Mount Union beat Capital 5-4 in the second game of an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader Thursday in Columbus to clinch a spot in next week's OAC Tournament.

Mount Union (16-17 overall) now stands at 10-6 in the OAC and punches its ticket back to the OAC's four-team tournament for the first time since 2008.  The tournament starts next Thursday (May 12) at Don Schaly Stadium in Marietta.

Freshman pitcher Matt Murzynski (Mentor/Lake Catholic) had his best outing of the season as he no-hit Capital for six inning and picked up the win as he allowed only three hits and one earned run over eight innings to move to 4-1 on the season.

Senior hurler Matt Lambert (Massillon/Massillon Washington) came in with two runners on in ninth and worked out of it to pick up his first save of the season.

At the plate, the Raiders scored its five runs via the long ball as junior Craig Knott (Canton/GlenOak) hit a three-run home run in the first and senior Greg Ferrell (Uniontown/Green) hit a two-run shot in the fifth.

Capital (10-21, 7-9 OAC) won the first game as they blew a 2-2 game open with a six-run fifth inning and went on to the 9-6 win.

Mount Union belted out 15 hits in the losing effort as freshmen Jimmy Dobran (Poland/Poland Seminary), Zach Carlino (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) and Connor Mathis (Akron/Firestone) each had three hits.

The Raiders close the regular season Saturday with a pair of OAC games at Heidelberg.  First pitch in Tiffin is slated for 1 pm.
