PREVIEW: Baseball Hosts Capital in Final OAC Home Series Wednesday
Mount Union has won three of its last four OAC games and at 5-5 is three games behind the first place tie of Marietta and Baldwin Wallace and a game ahead of three teams in Heidelberg, Muskingum and today's opponent -- Capital.

The Purple Raiders are No. 3 in the conference in hitting with a .314 batting average. Adam Morino and Evan Knott are ranked No. 6 and No. 7 respectively in the OAC in hitting. Morino has a .427 batting average with 10 doubles and 24 RBI -- all team highs while Knott is hitting .425 with eight doubles, a team-high four triples with 21 RBI.

On the mound, Zach Carlino is among the conference leaders in every pitching catagory as he is 5-1 with a 2.52 ERA with 35 strikeouts and three complete games. He leads a staff that is fifth in the conference with a 4.63 earned run average.

Capital has dropped five of its last seven games including splitting a pair of games last Saturday against Muskingum.

The Crusaders are hitting .292 as a team and are being led by Taylor Branisel, who is hitting .371 with five doubles, a triple, three home runs and 27 RBI. Nate Campbell and Dean Langholz are both hitting .340 and .339 respectively while Campbell has 16 stolen bases.

Capital is rated seventh in the conference in pitching with a 4.88 earned run average. Robert Fravel is 4-1 with a 2.70 ERA with 23 strikeouts and two complete games.

Mount Union next plays an OAC series Saturday at 1 pm against Heidelberg in Tiffin.
