WILMINGTON, Ohio -- Mount Union's baseball team got the offense back with 18 runs on 23 hits to go along with strong pitching in 10-1 and 8-0 Ohio Athletic Conference wins at Wilmington.
Mount Union is now 18-15 overall and 9-7 in the OAC and the Purple Raiders need to win at least one game next week at Muskingum to clinch a spot in the OAC Tournament.
The Purple Raiders jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings of game one which was more than enough for junior Zach Carlino (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) who had his fifth complete game of the season as he held the Quakers to a run on seven hits.
Leading 4-1 in the fifth, Mount Union put the game away with a five-run inning, the Raiders tacked on another in the sixth for the 10-1 final.
Scott Sherwood (Mentor/Mentor), Anthony Morino (Strongsville/Strongsville), Evan Knott (Canton/GlenOak) and Ricky Olasz (West Miffin, Pa./West Mifflin) all drove in two runs to pace Mount Union at the plate.
Clarke allowed just two hits over the first seven innings while Murzynski surrendered just one hit over the final two innings.
Mount Union put three runs on the board in the first inning, with three more in the third with two more in the sixth inning.
Justin Jakubik (Strongsville/Strongsville) drove in three runs on two hits while Morino had three hits as the Raiders belted out 13 hits.
