PREVIEW: Baseball Adds Tune-Up Game Tuesday Against Penn State-Behrend at Home

Mount Union's baseball team will close the regular season with a non-conference single nine-inning game Tuesday, May 7 at 4 pm against Penn State-Behrend at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.

The Purple Raiders are 20-15 and have won four-straight games to clinch the No. 3 seed in this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament.

Penn State-Behrend is 26-10 overall and have lost two of its last three games including a 7-4 loss to Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) this past Sunday.  The Lions won the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference regular season title and host the AMCC Tournament this coming Thursday.

The two teams played each other two weeks ago as Behrend scored a 6-2 win in Erie, Pa.

Mount Union is hitting .307 as a team and feature the OAC's top hitter in sophomore Anthony Morino (Strongsville/Strongsville), who is hitting .434 with 49 hits and 12 doubles.  He has 28 runs batted in which is right behind the 30 of junior Evan Knott (Canton/GlenOak).

The Raiders pitching staff has a 4.45 earned run average and an assortment of pitchers are expected to get work to get ready for the post-season.

The Lions are hitting .314 as a team with Ryan Kragnes leading the way with a .387 batting average.  Matt Bittner has driven in 35 runs and is one of eight Behrend hitters with double digit RBI.
