Baseball Exits NCAA Mideast Regionals with Loss to No. 4 seeded Illinois Wesleyan 5-2
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – No. 8 seed Mount Union's baseball team lost to No. 4 seed Illinois Wesleyan 5-2 on Thursday, May 16 in the second round of the 2013 NCAA Mideast Regional hosted by Rose-Hulman at Art Nehf Field.
With the loss, the Purple Raiders season ends at 23-18 while the Titans improve to 33-13 and advance to play Friday at 1:15 pm against the loser of the Thomas More and Marietta matchup.
Bobby Czarnowski gave Illinois Wesleyan a 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the second inning.
C.J. Stotler (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning at 1-1, as he hit a solo home run to left field.
A Titan four-run seventh inning shut the door on the Raiders as they went on for the 5-2 victory.
Nick Mehn pitched a complete game victory for the Titans as allowed just two runs and scattered nine hits with five strikeouts.
Sam Clarke (Strongsville/Strongsville) pitched 6.1 innings with six hits and allowed four earned runs as he took the loss for the Raiders.
