AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Mount Union baseball players Joey Keleman (North Olmsted/North Olmsted) and Phil Mary (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) have been named Ohio Athletic Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week.
During the 10-game Florida swing last week, Keleman had 19 hits in 39 at-bats (.514 batting average) with a double, two home runs and seven RBI.
His two best games was a 4-for-4 performance that included a double and a home run in a 10-8 extra inning win over SUNY-Poly then he had three hits and drove in a run in a 4-1 win over then No. 24 ranked Baldwin Wallace.
Mary went 2-0 in three appearances and allowed just one earned run with 12 strikeouts in 17 innings of work (0.53 ERA).
In his two starts, he did not allow and earned run as he had a complete game victory in a 2-1 win over Nebraska Wesleyan then came back going eight innings and not allowing an earned run in a 4-1 win against then No. 24 ranked Baldwin Wallace.
Mount Union, 7-3 overall and 2-0 in the OAC, are scheduled to play a doubleheader Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wittenberg in Springfield, Ohio.
