ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union baseball team won its school record 29th game of the season Wednesday with a 6-5 win over Pitt-Greensburg at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.

The Purple Raiders, who won 28 games in 2012, took advantage of five errors along with timely hitting to move to 29-9 on the season while Pitt-Greensburg is now 18-13 overall.

Kyle Spellman (Ravenna/Ravenna) went 3-for-3 with an RBI and scored the tying run when he came home on a throwing error on a stolen base attempt in the seventh inning. Two more batters and two more Bobcat errors brought home the eventual winning run as it was 6-4.

Pitt-Greensburg put on a rally of their own with a run in the eighth but Mount Union ace Phil Mary (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) worked the ninth for his second save of the season.

Darren Krolikowski (Independence/Independence) pitched 2.0 innings of relief out of the pen to pick up the win.

Pitt-Greensburg pushed a run across on two hits in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead.

Mount Union tied the game in the second taking advantage of a pair of Bobcat errors to tie the game at 1-1, then took a 2-1 lead in the third as Billy Goodall (Canfield/South Range) had a two-out RBI single.

The Raiders extended the lead to 3-1 as Joey Keleman (North Olmsted/North Olmsted) drew a leadoff walk in the fourth and eventually came around to score on a Spellman single.

Pitt-Greensburg tied the game with a two-run double from Matt Parlak in the fifth then retook the lead 4-3 with an unearned run in the sixth.
