Baseball: Mount Union Drops Third Straight

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's baseball team was defeated by Allegheny (Pa.) 7-2 in a nonconference game Sunday at 23rd Street Field.

With the loss, the Raiders have lost three straight and are 19-14 overall while Allegheny advances to 15-18.

The Raiders were led on offense by Nathan Duliba (Berea/Berea-Midpark), Nate Owen (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley), Niklas Kuriger (Atco N.J./Winslow Township) and Travis Wood (Hudson) who all posted two hits on the day.

The Gators jumped on starting pitcher Darren Krolikowski (Independence) (1-1) for five runs in the opening frame and one more in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead.

Allegheny starting pitcher, Joe Nagel (2-2), kept the Raiders off the board through the first five innings before the Raiders tagged him for two runs in the sixth.

Scott Cooney (North Olmsted) got his only hit of the day that scored Duliba and Kuriger scored Cooney later in the inning to make the score 6-2.

Allegheny would score one more time in the eighth to make the final score 7-2.

Mount Union will be back in action with a nonconference doubleheader Wednesday, May 2nd against Washington and Jefferson with the first pitch coming at 2 p.m. at 23rd Street Field.
