Baseball: Three Raiders Named to All-OAC Teams

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Mount Union's baseball team had three players named to All-Ohio Athletic Conference teams for the 2018 season which was voted on by the conference coaches.

Senior outfielder Billy Goodall (Canfield/South Range) along with senior starting pitcher Noah Skladan (Amherst/Steele) were named to the Second Team All-Conference while junior starting pitcher Phil Mary (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) was selected on the Honorable Mention list. 

This is the third time in Goodall's career that he has been a member of an All-Conference team as he was a second team selection as a sophomore and a first team selection as junior. The senior centerfielder played in 36 games and led the Purple Raider offense with a .366 batting average as he posted 45 hits in 123 at-bats. Goodall had a team-high 11 doubles and 12 stolen bases while also having a triple and a homerun on the season.

The one-two punch of Skladan and Mary started a combined 23 games on the bump and struckout 145 batters. This is Skladan's second time being honored by the coaches as he was an honorable mention selection a year ago. Skladan posted a team-best 6-3 record on the bump with three complete games. The senior left-hander struckout 63 batters on his way to a team-best 2.80 earned run average over 70.2 innings pitched in his 11 starts. Skladan had two complete game shutouts as he beat Otterbein 3-0 and Muskingum 4-0 in his final start.

Mary is honored by the coaches for the second time in his career as a year ago he was selected to the first team. Mary started a team-high 12 games and posted a 5-5 record with a 3.62 ERA over his 82 innings pitched. The senior right-hander also struck out a team-high 82 batters along with throwing six complete games over the course of the season. 

Mount Union finished the 2018 season with a 21-16 overall record and a 9-9 record in the conference.
