Baseball: Mike Rogers Memorial Golf Outing Set For Sept. 29

The family of Mike Rogers, Mount Union College class of 1977, and the University of Mount Union will be holding a memorial golf outing in Mike's name to benefit a fundraising effort for improvements to the baseball field at 23rd Street. The improvements include a first phase of artificial turf for the infield, followed by additional phases of turf in the outfield, a grandstand with concessions and various other improvements to the facility. The baseball field will be named Rafeld-Rogers Field in memory of long-time Coach Jack Rafeld and Mike, who lost his battle with cancer in 2017.

The Rogers family, including Mike's wife Lisa, daughters Taylor and Maddie, his mother Virginia and brothers Mark and Victor, invite you to attend this outing on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Tannehauf Golf Club in Alliance. Our goal for the fund raiser is to contribute to the continued success of the baseball program, which won its first OAC Championship in 47 years in 2017, by allowing for better playing conditions during their spring season. This funding will not only assist our student athletes, but also to honor Mike's commitment of being a great teammate and family man, as well as Coach Rafeld's commitment to Mount Union College for over 30 years. We hope to make this an annual event.

There are several ways that you can help make this a successful event. First of all, individual and corporate hole sponsorships are available with a tax-deductible donation of $100. As a sponsor, your individual or company name and/or logo will be prominently displayed on "Thank You" signage at the event, a golf hole of your choice, and the flier for the following year. We will also list your name in the Mount Union magazine. Please see the attached hole sponsor section of the form for more information.

Also, four-person teams can be registered to play by using the attached form. Costs for the outing are $75 per person or $300 per team, which includes 18-holes with a cart, drink tickets and dinner after the event. The outing will also include a skins game, mulligans, prizes for long drive, closest to the pin and longest put, a 50/50 drawing and a cash prize for the top two teams. Registration will close on Friday, September 21, 2018. Please encourage friends and former teammates to get a team together and attend!

We thank you in advance for supporting this outing, the Rogers family and the University of Mount Union. Should you have any questions about the event, please contact one of our committee members below.
