NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Mount Union's baseball team picked up a 9-2 non-conference win over Westminster (Pa.) Wednesday afternoon.
Nick Satovich (New Kensington, Pa. / Plum) tallied four hits and drove in two runs while Coleman Stauffer (Boardman) and Nathan Duliba (Berea / Berea-Midpark) each registered two hits to headline the Purple Raider offense.
Mount Union (12-5 overall) used three pitchers in the game as Billy Keller fanned two batters over 5.1 innings of work for his first collegiate victory.
The Raiders got on the board with a five-run second sparked by a two RBI single from Stauffer to give them a 5-0 lead.
Mount Union added two runs in the fourth off a sacrifice fly from Scott Cooney (North Olmsted) and an RBI single from Satovich to make the score 7-0.
An error by Westminster (7-6) scored two for the Raiders in the sixth before the Titans responded with two runs in the bottom frame to shrink the lead to 9-2.
Thomas Yuras (Mentor / Lake Catholic) pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth inning striking out one batter for the 9-2 final.
Mount Union continues to Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Baldwin Wallace in the season home opener at 23rd Street Field.
