ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's baseball team dropped a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference matchups 3-2 and 9-3 to Heidelberg Saturday at 23rd Street Field.
The Purple Raiders move to 16-10 overall and 3-7 in the OAC as Brian Livolsi (McMurray, Pa. / Peters Township) registered three hits in game two to headline the offense.
Heidelberg (19-8, 7-3 OAC) plated runs in the third and fourth innings to take an early 3-0 lead in game one.
Mount Union cut the lead to one in the sixth highlighted by an RBI single from Coleman Stauffer (Boardman) but the rally stopped there as Heidelberg went on to the 3-2 win.
Phil Mary (Venetia, Pa. / Peters Township) struck out eight batters over 8.0 innings of work in line for the loss.
The Student Princes again scored first in game two tallying a single run in the fourth.
Mount Union scored a run in the bottom frame before Heidelberg broke the game open with a five-run fifth to make it 7-1.
The Raiders scored single runs in the sixth and seventh off an RBI single from Corey White (Louisville) and a wild pitch to shift the score to 7-3.
Heidelberg got two runs back in the eighth to go on to the 9-3 victory.
Nick Satovich (New Kensington, Pa. / Plum) started game two going 4.1 innings striking out four batters and taking the loss.
Mount Union stays at home playing on Tuesday, April 16 for a 1 p.m. doubleheader against John Carroll at 23rd Street Field.
