Auburndale, FL – The Mount Union baseball team faced off with the Dickinson Red Devils in a doubleheader on Thursday at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in the RussMatt Invitational. They won the first game, 19-0 in five innings, and dropped the second game, 7-6.
Mount Union got its first run of the ballgame in the bottom of the second with one out. Back-to-back doubles by Trey Weaver (Franklin, Pa. / Franklin Area) and Corey White (Louisville / Louisville) put the Raiders up first, 1-0. Coleman Stauffer (Boardman / Boardman) increased that lead with an RBI double to left center scoring White. The Raiders then loaded the bases and Dwayne Sumler (Indianapolis, Ind. / Warren Central) brought home a run with an RBI single and Nathan Duliba (Berea / Berea-Midpark) drew a bases loaded walk to make it 4-0 Mount Union in the second. This was all with one out in the inning.
Brian Livolsi (McMurray, Pa. / Peters Township) then delivered the big blow in the second with a two-run, RBI single to left that scored Sumler and RJ Dean (Cuyahoga Heights / Cuyahoga Heights) to give the Raiders a 6-0 lead.

In game two, Mount Union struck first yet again. Livolsi earned his fourth RBI of the day when he brought in Gallant on a single up into right field to make the score 1-0 Raiders.
The Red Devils would then take the lead in the bottom of the first. Tom Gannaway got Dickinson on the board with an RBI single to left center. Gannaway then stole both second and third to eventually score from third on a wild pitch and give the Red Devils a 2-1 lead after one.
Dickinson then scored four more in the bottom of the second on three bases loaded walks and a wild pitch to take a 6-1 lead over the Raiders.
After getting two back in the fifth, Mount Union rallied for three in the sixth. Gallant got it going with an RBI double to left to bring the score to 7-4. Livolsi then came up with the bases loaded and drove an 0-2 pitch off the wall in left that brought home two runs and cut the deficit to one.
However, the rally would come up short. Dickinson's Thomas Marshman recorded the save in the seventh. He finished with 2.0 innings pitched, allowing one hit, walking one, and striking out five. The winning pitcher was Teddy Reddington, who threw 5.0 innings, giving up seven hits and six runs, walking four and striking out three.
