Ryan Armstrong enters his sixth season as Hitting Coach and first as Recruiting Coordinator at Mount Union.
Mount Union's offenses have been consistently at the top of the Ohio Athletic Conference under Armstrong; in 2014 Mount Union led NCAA Division DIII in batting average, hitting .355 as a team. The Purple Raiders also finished 2014 ranked in the top 10 nationally in on-base percentage and runs per game.
As a player, Armstrong was a starter on a Canton GlenOak High School team that won the 1995 OHSAA Division I title and was ranked 8th in the nation by USA Today. He then came to Mount Union where he was a four-year starter, two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection and team captain in 1999 who still holds records for career triples along with runs scored in a season and career. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in business administration, he played one year of professional baseball in 1999 with the Canton Crocodiles of the Frontier League.
Armstrong also holds a master's degree in Finance from The University of Florida and is a 2013 Stark County Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame Inductee.
Armstrong, his wife Lori, and daughter Olivia reside in Louisville, Ohio.
