Shorts Named Offensive Player of the Year as 12 Named to OhioCollegeFootball.com All-Ohio Teams

(COLUMBUS, OH)--Mount Union wide receiver Cecil Shorts III (Cleveland/Collinwood) was named Offensive Player of the Year to headline 12 Purple Raiders named to the OhioCollegeFootball.com All-Ohio Division III Teams.

Shorts has 88 catches for 1,525 yards and 16 touchdowns to go along with 108 yards rushing and six touchdowns on the ground.  The All-American is also a two-time All-OAC First Team and two-time OAC Ed Sherman Award winner given to the conference's top receiver.

Shorts was joined by offensive lineman Caleb Crowl (Lisbon/Lisbon David Anderson) on the First Team Offense, while defensive linemen Joe Millings (Copley/Copley) and Matt Williamson (Columbus/DeSales), defensive backs Roger Stewart (Pleasantville/Fairfield Union) and Drew McClain (Newark/Licking Valley) along with linebacker Sam Kershaw (West Jefferson/West Jefferson) are First Team Defense selections.

Quarterback Kurt Rocco (Cincinnati/Roger Bacon), offensive lineman Mike Nitz (Copley/Copley) and tight end Kyle Miller (Elida/Elida) are on the Second Team Offense, while defensive lineman James Herbert (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) and Judd Lutz (Tiffin/Tiffin Columbian) were tabbed Second Team Defense.

Wide receiver Vince Petruzello (Mentor/Lake Catholic) and offensive lineman Samy Guerrero (Dublin/Dublin Scioto) are Third Team Offense picks and round out the selections.

Mount Union, ranked No. 1 in the nation and 13-0 overall hosts No. 3 ranked and 13-0 Wesley (DE) in an NCAA Playoff National Semifinal Saturday at noon in Mount Union Stadium in Alliance.
