No. 2 ranked University of Mount Union and No. 1 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater play in the NCAA Division III Football National Championship game -- The Stagg Bowl -- Saturday, Dec. 18 at 3:30 pm at Salem Stadium in Salem, Virginia.

The teams have played in each of the last five Stagg Bowls with Mount Union winning in 2005, 2006 and 2008 and Whitewater taking the title in 2007 and 2009.

Mount Union earned an automatic bid into the 32-team tournament by winning its 19th straight Ohio Athletic Conference championship.  After completing its fifth straight undefeated regular season, the No. 2 ranked Purple Raiders are 12-0 overall after beating St. Lawrence, 49-0 in the first round and No. 18 ranked Delaware Valley 31-3 in the second round, Alfred (N.Y.) 37-7 in the quarterfinals and a 34-14 win over No. 14 ranked Bethel (Minn.) in the semifinals.

Mount Union is making its 22nd playoff appearance and holds a 69-11 record in the NCAA Playoffs, the Raiders are in the Stagg Bowl for a 14th time and have won a record 10 National Championships.

Wisconsin-Whitewater (14-0) earned an automatic bid by winning the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) title.  The Warhawks are making their ninth playoff appearance with a 27-6 record in NCAA post-season play.  Whitewater defeated No. 24 Frankin (Ind.) 52-21 in the first round, No. 12 Trine (Ind.) 45-31 in the second round, then went on the road to beat No. 5 North Central (Ill.) 20-10 in the quarterfinals and No. 3 ranked Wesley (Del.) 27-7 in the semifinals.

The game will be broadcast LIVE on the television on ESPNU and on the radio on WRMU 91.1 FM and WDPN AM1310 (Alliance), WANR 1570 (Warren/Youngstown) and ESPN 970AM (Ashtabula)

TICKET INFORMATION

Tickets for the 2010 championship game will be $12.50 in advance and $15 on game day. Tickets for high school students and younger are $7. All seats are reserved.
