WACO, Texas - Mount Union senior safety Nick Driskill (Wabash, Ind./Southwood) was named to the American Football Coaches Association All-American Football Team.
It is the second staight year that Driskill has been named to the team and gives the Purple Raiders a record 19 all-time All-Americans named 21 times.
Driskill is the leading tackler (90 tackles) for the nation's No. 1 ranked defense as he also has 14.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, three forced fumbles, two interceptions and has blocked two kicks.
He also was awarded the Ohio Athletic Conference's Lee Tressel Award as the conference's top defensive back and named to the All-OAC First Team while also being selected D3Football.com North Region Defensive Player of the Year for a second consecutive season.
Also an excellent student in the classroom, he holds a 3.78 grade point average as an Exercise Science major and was named Academic All-OAC, Academic All-District and the Capital One Academic All-American for NCAA Divsion III Football.
The AFCA All-American team is limited to just 25 elite players in the nation selected by member coaches and each school may only have one selection on the team.
Driskill joins quarterback Bill Borchert in 1996 and 1997 as Mount Union's only two-time selections to the squad.
