No. 1 ranked Mount Union will host Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) in an NCAA Division III First Round Playoff Game Saturday at noon at Mount Union Stadium in Alliance, Ohio.
Washington & Jefferson won its 23rd Presidents Athletic Conference title to claim the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Playoffs. The Presidents are making their 23rd NCAA Playoff appearance with a 21-22 record in the tournament and advanced to the title game -- the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl in 1992 and 1994.
This game will be the sixth meeting between the teams with Washington & Jefferson holding a 4-1 lead in the series that dates back to 1913. The teams last played in a 2009 NCAA First Round game at Mount Union which the Raiders won 55-0.
Mount Union, ranked No. 1 in both the American Football Coaches Association and D3football.com rankings, is also ranked No. 1 in the NCAA North Region rankings which is used to determine seeding and at-large teams.
The Purple Raiders are 10-0 overall and one of 24 conference champions to claim an automatic bid as Mount Union won its 22nd straight and 25th overall Ohio Athletic Conference championship with a 9-0 record.
The rest of the field includes three spots for independents and five national at-large bids.
The playoffs begin next Saturday (Nov. 23) on campus sites with noon local time kickoffs.
The national championship game -- the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl will be played Friday, Dec. 20 at 7 pm at Salem Stadium in Salem, Virginia.
Mount Union has a 78-13 record in NCAA Playoff games. The Raiders have advanced to the Stagg Bowl 16 times and have won a record 11 National Championships.

All seats in Mount Union Stadium are reserved and no passes will be accepted. Tickets will be available at the gates Saturday when they open at 10:30 am.
Pre-ordered tickets will be available for pickup on Friday from 12 pm - 2 pm in the lobby of the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex on campus and at the Will Call window at Mount Union Stadium on Saturday starting at 10:30 am.
