WACO, Texas -- Mount Union senior defensive lineman Matt Fechko (Twinsburg/Twinsburg) has been named the American Football Coaches Association All-American team.
The prestigious team has been selected by coaches since 1945 and is limited to only 25 players per season.
Fechko has started all 14 games and was awarded Ohio Athletic Conference's Paul Hoernemann Award as the conference's top defensive lineman this season. He has 40 tackles, 5.5 sacks and a forced fumble. That forced fumble came on a sack in this past week's NCAA Playoff semifinal against North Central.
The team captain also played offensive tackle the first three games this season.
A four-year starter, Fechko has never missed a game as he will play in his 60th game and make his 58th start this week as the Purple Raiders take on UW-Whitewater in the Stagg Bowl Friday at 7 pm in Salem, Virginia.
