Football: Mount Union Announces 2014 Football Schedule

Four home games and a birthday party headline the 2014 Mount Union football schedule.

The Purple Raiders home opener on Sept. 27 against Marietta will be 100th birthday party for Mount Union Stadium.  There will be a variety of events that day to celebreate Ohio's oldest college football stadium leading up to the 7 pm kickoff against the Pioneers.

Mount Union will enter the season on an 77-game home field win streak.

The Raiders start the season with an 83-game regular season win streak that begins Sept. 6 on the road with a game at Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia.

The traditional bye week follows on Sept. 13 and the Ohio Athletic Conference opener is Sept. 20 at 1:30 pm in New Concord against Muskingum.

Back-to-back road games at Capital and Ohio Northern start the month of October.

Two straight home games finish the month -- homecoming game against Heidelberg and hall of fame game against Wilmington.

Road trips to Otterbein (Nov. 1) and Baldwin Wallace (Nov. 8) are on the slate before the regular season home finale Nov. 15 against John Carroll.

Season and single-game ticket information will be released later in the summer.

The Heidelberg and John Carroll games will be broadcast on television on WIVM/WIVN TV (Canton/New Philadelphia) and cable sports network SportsTime Ohio.

Every game will be broadcast on the radio on WDPN 1310 AM and WRMU 91.1 FM.

The Purple Raiders enter the 2014 season winners of 22 consecutive OAC championships dating back to 1992. Mount Union reached the national title game -- Amos Alonozo Stagg Bowl -- for a ninth consecutive season in 2013 and the Raiders have won a record 11 national titles.
