Football: Mount Union's Tom Lally Named to AP Little All-America Team

Mount Union senior defensive lineman Tom Lally (Fairview Park/Lakewood St. Edward) was named to the Associated Press Little All-America Football Team.

Lally was a seecond team pick and marked the fourth straight year (Kevin Burke - 2012-14) that a Purple Raider has been named to the team that includes NCAA Division II, III and NAIA players.

Earlier this week, Lally was named to the American Football Coaches Association All-America team and as a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award given to the nation's top small college defensive player.

He has been one of the leaders on the nation's top rated defense as he leads the nation and has set a school single season record with 18.0 sacks this season.  He is also Mount Union's all-time sack leader with 40.0 sacks over his four-year career.

Mount Union's defense post six regular season shutouts as the Purple Raiders won their 24th straight and 27th overalll Ohio Athletic Conference title as Lally was named the conference's top defensive lineman winning the Paul Hornemann Award for a second straight season.

Lally, a two-time All-American, has never missed a game in his four-year career and will play in his 60th and final game Friday night as top ranked Mount Union takes on No. 3 ranked St. Thomas (Minn.) in the Stagg Bowl - NCAA Division III title game -- Friday at 7 p.m. in Salem, Va.
