JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Mount Union had four football players -- seniors Cole Parrish (Creedmoor, N.C. / South Granville), Charlie Dear (Massillon / Jackson) and Elijah Berry (Dublin / Scioto) along with sophomore Justin Hill (Circleville / Circleville) named to the Associated Press Little All-America Division III team.
Parrish, who was named an American Football Coaches Association All-American earlier this week, is the first team center and has started all 14 games so far this season for a Purple Raiders team that leads the nation in scoring offense. He was also the Ohio Athletic Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year and an All-OAC first team pick.
Dear, a linebacker, and Berry, a defensive lineman, are both All-America second team selections that help lead a defense that is ranked No. 6 in the nation and has a turnover margin of plus-17 which is third best nationally.
Dear is second on the team in tackles with 86 stops, 10.5 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery while Berry leads the team with 15.5 tackles for loss and 9.0 sacks. Both were also All-OAC first teamers.
Hill is a wide receiver on the All-America second team that leads the team with 51 catches for 1,129 yards and his 19 touchdowns are among the nation's best. He also won the OAC Wide Receiver of the Year Award and was an All-OAC first team selection.
This is the first the Associated Press sponsored a Division III only All-America team and sports information directors from around the country aided in picking the teams.
