WILMINGTON, Ohio – No. 2 ranked Mount Union defeated Wilmington 63-6 in an Ohio Athletic Conference football game Saturday at Williams Stadium.
D'Angelo Fulford (Miramar, Fla.) threw five first half touchdowns – two each to Justin Hill (Circleville) and Derrick Harvey (Akron / Buchtel) and another to Wayne Ruby, Jr. (Pembroke Pines, Fla. / Flanagan).
Fulford finished 17-of-22 passing for 265 yards and Hill had seven catches for 163 yards
Josh Petruccelli (Perry) ran in two scores as well as he rushed for 114 yards on 15 carries.
The Mount Union defense held Wilmington (1-4, 1-3 OAC) to 156 total yards. Nate Fisette (Lancaster, Calif. / Quartz Hill) had six tackles and an interception and Malik Britt (Bossier City, La. / Airline) also had an interception.
Mount Union scored touchdowns on five of its first six possessions to run out to a 33-0 lead. Wilmington then got on the board as Kyle Barrett hit Itika Wynn on a 31-yard scoring pass but Derrick Bradley (Bradenton, Fla. / Palmetto) blocked the extra point attempt and Jalen Griffin (Chicago, Ill. / Simeon) ran it back for two points and it was 35-6. Mount Union closed out the half with Fulford's fifth TD pass of the day and second to Harvey.
Petruccelli ran in his second touchdown of the day on the Raiders first possession of the second half and it was 49-6 after three quarters.
Mount Union finished the scoring as freshman backup quarterback Braxton Plunk (Plant City, Fla.) threw a six-yard touchdown pass to freshman Jordan Lee (Atlanta, Ga. / Hapeville Academy) and freshman DeAndre Parker (Crystal River, Fla.) ran in a one-yard touchdown.
The Raiders (5-0, 4-0) host Capital for homecoming next Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium.
