The Matchup: No. 2 ranked Mount Union plays Heidelberg in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1:30 p.m. at Hoernemann Stadium in Tiffin.
 
Heidelberg and Mount Union enter this week second and third in NCAA Division III in total offense averaging 556.8 and 552.3 respectively.
 
Last week, the Purple Raiders (6-0, 5-0 OAC) led 27-0 after the first quarter and 51-0 at halftime on their way to a 66-0 shutout of Capital.
 
Senior quarterback D'Angelo Fulford (Miramar, Fla.) and senior wide receiver Justin Hill (Circleville) hooked up three times for touchdowns in the first half. Fulford threw for five touchdowns before halftime on 11-of-14 passing for 213 yards. Hill caught seven passes for 185 yards.
 
Senior kicker Cory Barnett (Grove City/Teays Valley) kicked five field goals, fellow senior Max Righetti (Salem) kicked another field goal for a total of six which tied the NCAA Division III record for field goals in a game.
 
Heidelberg (5-1, 4-1 OAC) beat Otterbein 52-35 in Tiffin last week. 
 
Offensively, Jimmy Gephart directed the offense with 380 yards of passing and threw for three scores. Keivon Belcher caught 10 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown and Nick Cofer caught seven passes for 103 yards and a score as well.  Tayy Yearby rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns, while Gephart added a score on the ground.
 
Defensively, Tramon Wiley and Tyler Matuszak each had seven tackles. Wiley, Barry Middleton, and Jacob Gerlak all had an interception as well.
 
The Series: This is the 63rd meeting between the teams with Mount Union holding a 49-13 lead in a series that dates back to a 34-10 Raider win in 1910. Mount Union has won the last 30 meetings with Heidelberg's last win coming in 1988, 24-14 in Tiffin.
 
Up Next: Mount Union plays the next two games at home as the Raiders host Ohio Northern next Saturday, Nov. 2 then Muskingum Saturday, Nov. 9. Both games kick-off at 1:30 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium.
 
Scouting the Berg: Heidelberg is a one-point loss at Baldwin Wallace from being undefeated and the Student Princes lead the OAC in total offense averaging 556 yards per game. Defensively, Heidelberg is fourth in the conference allowing 368 yards per game.
 
Senior quarterback Jimmy Gephart has completed 68-percent of his passes for nearly 1,700 yards with 21 touchdowns and four interceptions. Three receivers all have a team-best 28 catches led by junior Maceo Matthews with 564 yards with eight touchdowns. 
 
Freshman running back Montavious Yearby leads the team and is third in the OAC averaging 114 yards per game with an OAC-best nine rushing TD's.
 
On defense, senior linebacker Tyler Matuszak has a team-best 47 tackles, sophomore lineman Zach Blackiston, a Massillon Perry product, has 6.5 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks while junior defensive back Tramon Wiley tops the conference with five interceptions.
 
Record Watch: Senior D'Angelo Fulford (Miramar, Fla.) threw five touchdowns last week with three going to fellow senior Justin Hill (Circleville). 
 
The five touchdowns by Fulford gave him 27 on the season and 118 for his career, which tied him for third most in school history with Jim Ballard (1991-93). Hill's three touchdowns pushed his career total to 53 and put him into second place all-time at Mount Union behind Cecil Shorts (2007-10), who has 63 receiving touchdowns.
 
Junior running back Josh Petruccelli (Perry) had 65 yards rushing against Capital last week that pushed him into sixth on the school's all-time rushing yards list with 3,197 yards.
 
More records last week came from senior kicker Cory Barnett (Grove City/Teays Valley). who kicked five field goals and fellow senior Max Righetti (Salem), who kicked another field goal for a total of six which tied the NCAA Division III record for field goals in a game. The duo tied another Raider duo as Edward Ruhnke and Jefferson Lee combined to kick six field goals in a game against Wilmington in 2014.
 
QB1 No. 1: For the second straight week, senior quarterback D'Angelo Fulford (Mirmar, Fla.) is not only NCAA Division III's highest rated passer with a 239.1 passer rating but leads all of college football. The leaders at the other levels include - Jalen Hurts, Oklahoma (226.1) in FBS, Kevin Davidson, Princeton (191.9) in FCS and Roland Rivers III, Slippery Rock (200.3) in D2.
 
Built Ford Tough: Junior Kordell Ford (Massillon / Washington) had his first career interception last week against Capital. Ford leads the Raiders in tackles (25.0), tackles for loss (5.0) and sacks (2.0).
 
Team Captains: Mount Union has nine team captains in 2019 in fullback Joe Fornaro (Chesterland / West Geagua), quarterback D'Angelo Fulford (Miramar, Fla.), wide receiver Justin Hill (Circleville), linebacker Mitch O'Hara (Avon / Lakewood St. Edward), offensive lineman Brendan Klaus (Brighton, Mich.), defensive linemen Adam Pastor (Mantua / Walsh Jesuit) and Andrew Roesch (Avon), offensive lineman Sean Sherman (Springboro / Bishop Fenwick) and linebacker Trey Williams (Cardington / Cardington-Lincoln).
