TIFFIN, Ohio – No. 2 ranked Mount Union beat Heidelberg 27-0 in an Ohio Athletic Conference game in a driving rain Saturday at Hoernemann Stadium in Tiffin.

Mount Union (7-0, 6-0 OAC) junior running back Josh Petruccelli (Perry) posted his fourth 100-yard rushing performance of the season as he ran for a career-high 41 carries for 194 yards with three touchdowns as the Raiders rumbled for 269 yards on the ground.

Heidelberg (5-2, 4-2 OAC) was held to 55 yards in the first half and 151 for the game. Montavious Yearby ran for 33 yards on 12 carries.

Trey Williams (Cardington / Cardington-Lincoln) had a game-high 14 tackles and Andrew Roesch (Avon) forced a fumble to lead a Raider defense that has three shutouts over their last four games.

Both teams exchanged punts before a Mount Union drive ended on a D'Angelo Fulford (Miramar, Fla.) interception. It was his first interception this season and in 162 pass attempts dating back to last season. The Raider defense picked it up three plays later as a Roesch sack forced a fumble that was recovered by Ethan McComb (Huntingtown, Md.) on the Heidelberg 40-yard line. Petruccelli then scored from a yard out to cap an eight-play drive and give Mount Union a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

On the first drive of the second quarter, Mount Union then grinded out a 13-play drive, 12 on the ground, including a two-yard touchdown run by freshman DeAndre Parker (Crystal River, Fla.). After a Heidelberg three-and-out, Mount Union stayed on the ground with a five-play march that ended with a Petruccelli 20-yard touchdown run but a missed extra point made it 20-0 at halftime.

Both teams exchanged turnovers in the third quarter. Mount Union freshman Harry Bowker (St. Augustine, Fla. / Bantram Trail) intercepted a Heidelberg pass at the Raiders' eight-yard-line and returned it to the 50-yardline but then Zach Blackiston recovered a fumble for Heidelberg two plays later.

Petruccelli had his third rushing score with 8:30 to play to finish the scoring at 27-0.

Mount Union returns home to face Ohio Northern next Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium.
