Football: Former Raider Linebacker Joseph Dugan '78 Passes Away

Mount Union alum and former football player Joseph S. Dugan '78, age 64, passed awayFriday October 23, 2020 at Oakhill Manor in Louisville after a lengthy illness.

He was born September 29, 1956 to the late Eugene and Eileen Dugan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Dugan; step-father, Frank Caruso; nephew, Jacob, and several aunts and uncles; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Dugan, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Frank. Joe was a graduate of St. Joseph's Grade School, Alliance High School, and The University of Mount Union. He played baseball and football at the University of Mount Union and was a student teacher at West Branch. He also spent time as an assistant football coach at Mount Union. He played baseball at the AAA level for a team in Georgia. He lived in Georgia for 34 years and moved back to the Alliance just over three years ago. He will be remembered as being a good brother, uncle, and a wonderful man. He worked in construction and loved to hunt and fish in his free time. He is survived by his loving family including; Jim (Vicky) Dugan, Mike Dugan, Frances (Dugan) Hamby, Patrick Dugan, Cathy (Dugan) (Calvin) Smith , Mary (Dugan) Hoy as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 7 pm at Dean's Funeral Home, 256 W. Ohio Avenue in Sebring, Ohio, with Very Rev. Canon Matthew J. Mankowski, of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, as celebrant. Friends and family may share their online condolences at www.deansfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Dean's Funeral Home.
