Mount Union Football Academic Awards

Mount Union football has always put the highest priority on education. This has been shown through the 32 Academic All-American selections, as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The 32 selections stand as the most selections by any OAC school.

Greg Micheli in 2008, Nick Driskill in 2012 and Hank Spencer in 2015 were named Academic All-American of the Year for football recognized as the top Academic All-American in the entire division.

In 2009, Greg Micheli was named the College Division Academic All-American of the Year as the top scholar athlete in the college division that includes every NCAA Division II, III, and NAIA institution. Micheli joins Peyton Manning, Danny Wuerfful, and Rebecca Lobo as other past winners and is the first athlete in the history of the Ohio Athletic Conference to win the honor.

Eric Safran in 2007, Greg Micheli in 2008, Nick Driskill in 2012 and Hank Spencer in 2015 were finalists for Campbell Trophy given by the National Football Foundation as the top scholar athlete in college football.  Each were awarded an $18,000 post-graduate scholarship.

Jay Carpener in 2009 and Hank Spencer in 2013, 2014, 2015 won the NCAA Elite 90 Award as having the highest GPA among competitors at the championship game site.
