Men's Basketball Falls On The Road To Hiram
HIRAM, Ohio- - Freshman Jarrett Ruffin (Northfield/Nordonia) had 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds, but Mount Union's men's basketball team (1-3) fell on the road 93-84 to Hiram Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Nate Jacubec (Struthers/Struthers) scored 17 points and added six assists, freshman Kyle Scelza (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) had 16, and senior Matt Kiger (Williamstown,W. Va/Williamstown) chipped in with 11.
Hiram (1-0) had five players in double digits and was led by Aaron Stefanov who scored 20 points.
The Purple Raiders took their biggest lead of the game when Jacubec hit a three pointer at the 15:11 mark of the first half to put the Raiders up 11-5.
Chris Zurowski gave the Terriers the lead for good, when he nailed a three pointer at the 9:19 mark of the first half to give the Terriers a 22-21 lead.
The Terriers would lead by as much as 14 in the second half.
