GAME PREVIEW- Men's Basketball Hosts Baldwin Wallace Wednesday Evening

Mount Union's men's basketball team (8-11, 6-6 OAC) hosts Baldwin Wallace (14-5, 9-3 OAC) Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

MOUNT UNION

Mount Union enters Wednesday's game with an 8-11 overall record and is currently in sixth place in the conference standings with a 6-6 record. 

The Purple Raiders are coming off an 83-72 defeat at the hands of Capital in their last game. 

The first half featured seven lead changes and six ties with Mount Union's largest lead coming at the eight minute mark of the first half when freshman Kyle Scelza (Stow-Stow-Munroe Falls) scoring a layup to give the Raiders a five point lead at 23-18.

Capital would end the half on a 16-9 run and take a 34-32 lead into halftime. 

Early in the second half, the Crusaders went on a 17-9 run to put the game out of reach, and would go on for the 82-73 victory.

COACH

Mike Fuline (Kent State '98) is in his second season as head coach at Mount Union and has compiled a 18-26 overall record as head coach of the Purple Raiders.  Prior to becoming head coach of the Raiders, Fuline had a successful coaching career at the high school level that included winning the 2010 OHSAA Division I State Championship at Massillon Jackson.  Prior to coach at Massillon, he was the head coach at Rootstown high school (2003-2005). At Rootstown, his 2003-04 team posted a 16-6 record and won a sectional championship while his 2004-05 team went 20-4, shared the league title and won a district championship. Fuline was named 2004 Ohio's Division III Co-Coach of the Year.

BALDWIN WALLACE

Baldwin Wallace enters Wednesday's game with a 14-5 record and 9-3 conference record. They are currently in third place in the OAC standings behind Marietta and Capital, who are both tied for first with 10-2 conference records. 

The Yellow Jackets have won 11 of their last 12 games with the lone loss in the streak coming at Ohio Northern 63-47

Last season, the Yellow Jackets finished the season with a 16-10 overall record and went 11-7 in conference play. They faced Wilmington in the quarter final round of the OAC tournament, but were defeated by the Quakers 76-64.

COACH

Duane Sheldon (Baldwin Wallace'93) is in his fifth season at his alma mater and has compiled a 61-60 while head coach of the Yellow Jackets. Prior to becoming head coach of the Yellow Jackets, Sheldon spent six years (2002-2008) as head coach of Heidelberg. In the 2007-08 season, Sheldon guided the Student Princes to the OAC tournament title and earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Divison III men's basketball tournament.
