Men’s Basketball Goes For Season Sweep Against Otterbein Saturday
Mount Union's men's basketball team (8-12, 6-7 OAC) hosts Otterbein (7-13, 4-9 OAC) Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
THE SERIES
This will be the 104th meeting between the two schools with Otterbein holding a 62-41 advantage in the all-time series.
In the matchup earlier this season, Mount Union was victorious at Otterbein 66-60.
The last time the Purple Raiders swept a season series with the Cardinals was the 2004-2005 season where the Raiders won 74-64 at home on Dec 18, 2004 and at Otterbein Feb. 19, 2005, 64-59.

The Purple Raiders are coming off a heartbreaking 60-58 loss against Baldwin Wallace.
Kevin Krakowiak scored a layup as time expired to give the Yellow Jackets a two point victory over the Raiders 60-58.

COACH
Mike Fuline (Kent State '98) is in his second season as head coach at Mount Union and has compiled an 18-27 overall record as head coach of the Purple Raiders. Prior to becoming head coach of the Raiders, Fuline had a successful coaching career at the high school level that included winning the 2010 OHSAA Division I State Championship at Massillon Jackson. Prior to coach at Massillon, he was the head coach at Rootstown high school (2003-2005). At Rootstown, his 2003-04 team posted a 16-6 record and won a sectional championship while his 2004-05 team went 20-4, shared the league title and won a district championship. Fuline was named 2004 Ohio's Division III Co-Coach of the Year.
OTTERBEIN
Otterbein enters Saturday's game with a 14-5 record and 9-3 conference record. The Cardinals are currently tied for eighth place in the conference standings.
The Cardinals are currently on a two game losing streak having lost at Baldwin Wallace 70-64 and against Ohio Northern (82-73) in their last game.
Last season, the Cardinals finished the season with a 9-17 overall record and went 6-12 in conference play. They faced Wilmington in the first round of the OAC tournament, but were defeated 76-65.
