Game Preview

Mount Union comes into the game after an 82-79 win on the road against Wilmington. Mount Union had three players in double figures as J.J. Kukura (Alliance/Alliance) scored a game-high 26 points, Jake Jacubec (Struthers/Struthers) had 17 and Jarrett Ruffin (Northfield/Nordonia) scored 11.

The Purple Raiders have won eight out of their last nine games and are 10-3, 6-0 in the OAC. The Raiders are also still tied for first place in the conference standings with No. 7 John Carroll.

Kukura leads the Raiders in scoring averaging 17.9 points per game. Along with Kukura, Mount Union has three other players averaging double figures. These players include: Jacubec (14.8), Ruffin (14.0), and Cody Dillon (Newton Falls/Newton Falls) with 10 points per game. Ruffin leads the team in rebounding (8.4) and Jacubec leads in assists (3.2).

Muskingum comes into the game after a 97-91 lost to John Carroll. The Muskies were led by Jarrell Marsh who scored a game-high 34 points and chipped in four assists. Joshua Keyes led Muskingum in rebounding with 11.

Marsh leads Muskingum in scoring (15.0) and assists (3.6), while Keyes leads in rebounding (8.3).

Coaches

Mike Fuline (Kent State '98) is in his fifth season at Mount Union with an overall record of 78-46. Fuline has won an OAC regular season and tournament title and was the 2015 Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year leading the Raiders to the NCAA Sweet 16.  Before coming to Alliance, Fuline spent six years as head coach of Massillon Jackson High School and won the 2011 OHSAA Division I Boys State Basketball Championship.

Travis Schwab (Ohio Wesleyan '04) is in his first season at Muskingum with a record of 3-10. Before coaching at Muskingum, Schwab was the associate head coach at Wittenberg University where he helped lead them to a NCAC regular season title and three NCAA Tournament appearances. While at Wittenberg, Schwab compiled a 142-80 (.640) winning percentage) record.
