No. 18 Mount Union will host No. 11 Marietta in an Ohio Athletic Conference men's basketball game on Wednesday night. Tip off will be at 7:30 p.m. in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

Game Preview:

Mount Union comes into the game after a 116-93 loss to John Carroll. The Raiders fell to 11-4, 7-1 in the OAC. Kukura led the Raiders with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Aside from Kukura, The Raiders had four other players in double figures, with Jake Jacubec (Struthers/Struthers) scoring 15, Kyle Scelza (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) had 14, Taylor Moore (North Canton/Hoover) added 12, and Jarrett Ruffin (Northfield/Nordonia) scored 10.

Kukura currently leads the team and is fourth in the OAC in scoring, averaging 18.7 points per game. Ruffin leads the team and is fourth in the OAC in rebounding, averaging 8.3 per game. He also leads the OAC in field goal percentage (62.7%). Jacubec leads the OAC in three point field goal percentage with 50.0%.
Marietta comes into the game off a 109-58 victory over Otterbein. With the win, the Pioneers improved to 13-2, 7-1 in the OAC. A.J. Edwards led the effort for Marietta, scoring 16 points. Three other Pioneers were in double figures, including: Luis Garcia (15), Kyle Dixon (13), and A.J. Ireland (12).
Coaches

Mike Fuline (Kent State '98) is in his fifth season at Mount Union with an overall record of 79-47. Fuline has won an OAC regular season and tournament title and was the 2015 Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year leading the Raiders to the NCAA Sweet 16.  Before coming to Alliance, Fuline spent six years as head coach of Massillon Jackson High School and won the 2011 OHSAA Division I Boys State Basketball Championship.

Jon VanderWal (Albion '01) is in his ninth season at Marietta with an overall record 139-81. VanderWal has won two OAC regular season titles and two OAC tournament titles. He has led Marietta to three NCAA Tournament appearances, where their best result came in 2015 where they made it to the Elite 8. VanderWal has received many coaching honors for his efforts at Marietta such as OAC Coach of the Year (2011), NCAA DIII Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year (2011, 2015), and NCAA DIII Glenn Robinson National Coach of the Year (2015). Before coming to Marietta, he was an assistant at Ohio Wesleyan.
