No. 3 seeded Mount Union men's basketball will host No. 6 seeded Heidelberg Tuesday for the quarterfinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament.

Game Preview:

Mount Union comes into the matchup off a 105-86 win over Wilmington.

Cody Dillon (Newton Falls/Newton Falls) had a game-high 25 points while two other Purple Raider seniors in Jarrett Ruffin (Northfield/Nordonia) and Jake Jacubec (Struthers/Struthers) also scored in double figures.  Ruffin had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds while Jacubec had 13 points as 13 different Mount Union players scored.

JJ Kukura (Alliance/Alliance) leads Mount Union in scoring, averaging 18.0 points per game. The Raiders have four other players averaging double figures as well, including: Ruffin with 15.2 ppg., Jacubec with 13.2 ppg., Dillon with 10.7 ppg., and Scelza with 10.2 ppg.

Heidelberg enters the contest off a 79-69 win over Otterbein. Myron Prewitt led the effort for the Student Princes with 19 points, while Devonte Holder contributed 12 points of his own

Kiere Bennie leads Heidelberg in scoring, averaging 13.8 points per game. DeAvery Collins also averages double figures with 10.2 point per game.

OAC Tournament History

The Raiders are in their 56th OAC tournament appearance, which ties Capital for the most in conference history. The Raiders have a 28-53 record and have won the tournament title twice -- in 1997 and 2015.

Heidelberg is making its 53rd OAC tournament appearance and the Berg has a 42-50 record in tournament games winning one title in 2008.

It is only the fourth ever meeting between the two teams in the tournament and first since 1997. Mount Union has won two of the previous three meetings.

Previous Meetings

The teams split the two regular season meetings with each winning on its respective home floor. Mount Union won 104-80 back on Jan. 6 in Alliance while Heidelberg scored an 87-70 win two weeks ago in Tiffin.

Coaches

Mike Fuline (Kent State '98) is in his fifth season at Mount Union with an overall record of 84-51. Fuline has won an OAC regular season and tournament title and was the 2015 Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year leading the Raiders to the NCAA Sweet 16.  Before coming to Alliance, Fuline spent six years as head coach of Massillon Jackson High School and won the 2011 OHSAA Division I Boys State Basketball Championship.

Andy Bucheit (Wittenberg '05) is in his third season at Heidelberg with an overall record of 32-44. He was an assistant at Marietta before going to Tiffin.
