HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Mount Union senior guard J.J. Kukura (Alliance / Alliance) became the 31st player in school history to score over 1,000 career points as the Purple Raiders routed City College of New York, 104-52 at the Penn State-Harrisburg Tip-Off Tournament Saturday.
Kukura scored seven points to hit 1,000 points on the dot in his 75th game as a Raider. Six of his teammates scored in double digits as Mount Union ran out to a 55-25 halftime lead and never trailed.
Andrew Francesconi (Tallmadge / Tallmadge) led the Raiders with 14 and Nathan Bower-Malone (Stow/Stow) had 13 while off the bench Tre'Maine Gray (Akron / Firestone), James Burney (Warren / Warren JFK), D'Vonta Friga (Cuyahoga Falls / Cuyahoga Falls) all had 11 and Tanner Slack (New Concord/John Glenn) had 10.
James White was the only player in double figures for CCNY (0-3) with 14.
Mount Union next plays host Penn State-Harrisburg Sunday at 3 p.m. in the tournament title game.
