Mount Union to Compete at NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships; First Two Rounds Tuesday and Wednesday

Mount Union will compete this week at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina.

It will be the third time the Purple Raiders will be at the national championships.  Mount Union went as a team in 2007 and 2008 while in 2009 Lucas Murray (Canton/Canton South) competed as an individual.  Mount Union finished 25th in 2007, 12th in 2008 while Murray placed 38th in 2009.

The Championship
The championship consists of 40 teams -- 28 of those teams like Mount Union won their respective conference titles and automatic bid, six spots were reserved for teams not from automatic qualifying conferences and the final six spots were national at-large bids.  Five individual golfers not from teams participating will also be invited to compete.

Two 18 hole rounds will be played Tuesday and Wednesday with the top 15 teams and six individuals not from those teams advancing to the final two rounds Thursday and Friday.
