Men’s Golf Seeks Fifth OAC Championship This Weekend

Mount Union's men's golf team seeks its fifth OAC championship when it competes in the Ohio Athletic Conference championships at the River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ohio. The three-day 72 hole completion begins Friday and concludes on Sunday.

Play begins Friday at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Last season, Otterbein captured its third title in the last four years and its 10th title since 2000. Mount Union finished second with a 1,224 stroke total which was 11 behind Otterbein (1,213).

Ben Adams (Otterbein) earned individual medialist honors after posting a score of 299. Adams was tied with Colin Burns (Ohio Northern) after 72 holes but won the first playoff hole to take home medialist honors.

Jon Lieser (Minerva/Minerva) and Colin Broughton earned all-conference honors for the Raiders by finishing in the top 10 individual scores. Lierser finished in a tie for sixth with a 306 stroke total and Broughton finished in a tie for 10th with a 307.

Otterbein also captured this year's regular season OAC title for the third year in a row which is a combination of the lowest scores from the conference's fall and spring events.

On the season, Lierser leads the Purple Raiders with a 75.0 stroke average. Chad Sanders (Chardon/Chardon) carded the low round of the season for the Raiders with a 70 in the first round of the River Greens Fall Intercollegiate.
