WEST LAFAYETTE, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's golf team holds second place after shooting 458 (+19) on day one through 27 holes of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships Friday at River Greens Golf Course.
Otterbein holds the day one lead as they shot 438 (-1) which is 20 shots better than the second place Purple Raiders. Following the Purple Raiders is Baldwin Wallace (463) in third, Heidelberg (464) in fourth, and Ohio Northern (466) in fifth.
Through the first 18 holes of the tournament, the Purple Raiders shot a season-low 299 led by senior Matt Dudley (Canal Fulton/Northwest) as he tied his career-low with an one under 72.
After 27 holes, Senior Buster Thomas (Cortland/Lakeview) leads the way for Mount Union with an even 109. Following Thomas is Dudley and junior Andrew Thompson (New Albany/New Albany) five-over 114 and an eight-over 117, respectively. Both Thomas (T4) and Dudley (T9th) are in the top 10 while Thompson (18th), Isaac Davidson (T19), and Sean Croell (T32) round out team. Davidson (East Liverpool/East Liverpool) shot a nine-over 118 while Croell (Newton Falls/Newton Falls) shot a 13-over 122.
Day two of the OAC Championships will start at 10 a.m. tomorrow at River Greens where the teams will play 27 more holes.
