Men's Lacrosse Announces 2013 Schedule; Rebirth of Program Slated For March 2

The rebirth of the Mount Union men's lacrosse program hits the field for the first time on Saturday, March 2 at 3 pm against Oberlin in Mount Union Stadium.

The Purple Raiders have been counting down to that day since it was announced in May of 2011 that the program would return to campus after a nearly 30-year hiatus.

Competitng as an independent in 2013, Mount Union will have a total of eight home dates in Mount Union Stadium against regional opponents Thiel (Pa.), Centre (Ky.), Bethany (W.Va.), Olivet (Mich.) and St. Vincent (Pa.) then a date against fellow Ohio Athletic Conference member Otterbein before a game against Houghton (N.Y.) in the regular season home finale on April 20.

Aside from Otterbein, the Raiders also travel to fellow OAC member Wilmington for the final regular season game on Sat., April 27.  The OAC will sponsor men's lacrosse as a championship sport in 2014 when Capital and John Carroll join the Raiders, Baldwin Wallace, Otterbein and Wilmington as schools with lacrosse teams.  Muskingum will join in 2015 which will give the OAC enough teams for an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
