ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The University of Mount Union has announced that P.J. Kavanagh has resigned as head coach of its men's lacrosse program effective immediately.
"My decision to resign was made after careful consideration of a variety of factors," commented Kavanagh. "I am very thankful for my experiences at Mount Union."
Kavanagh was hired in 2011 after Mount Union decided to restart the program after a near 30-year hiatus. The team played this past season and went 7-7 as an independent.
"P.J. did a great job getting our program off to an outstanding start and we all wish he and his family well," stated athletic director Larry Kehres.
A search for a new head coach is underway.
