ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's lacrosse broke a 3-3 game open with nine goals in the third quarter and went on to a 16-6 win over Wilmington in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup Friday at Mount Union Stadium in Alliance.

The Purple Raiders, who have won 10-straight games, are 11-3 overall and at 3-0 in the OAC clinch a berth in the four-team inaugrual OAC Tournament in two weeks.

Josh Stephens (North Canton/Green) led Mount Union on offense with a career-best five goals -- three of them coming in a pivotal third quarter.

The game was tied 3-3 at the break when each team scored in the opening two minutes of the third quarter to knot the score at 4-4.

Stephens scored a pair of goals -- an unassisted score at the 12:10 mark and a man-up goal just over two minutes later that sparked a Mount Union run that included nine more unanswered goals that gave the Raiders a commanding 15-4 lead with 7:40 left in the game.

Wilmington (4-10, 0-3) would score two of the final three goals for the 16-6 final.

Mike Richardson (Parma/Holy Name) had five ground balls and three caused turnovers while Collin Peters (Portland, Ore./Sunset) had five saves to lead the defense for Mount Union.

Mount Union stays home to play Baldwin Wallace in an OAC game next Wednesday, April 23 at 7 pm at Mount Union Stadium.
