Men's Lacrosse: Mount Union Wins Fifth Straight With Victory Over John Carroll

ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union men's lacrosse team won its fifth consecutive game with a 9-8 win over John Carroll in an Ohio Athletic Conference game at Mount Union Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Purple Raiders, now 8-2 and 3-0 in the OAC, were led by Hogan Harris (Medina/Medina), Chris Daley (Wilmington, Del./Dupont), Brent Greenberg (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) all chipped in two goals in the effort. Collin Peters (Portland, Ore./Sunset) recorded 19 saves for the game.

John Carroll (5-5, 1-1 OAC) was led by Declan O'Grady with four goals.

Mount Union jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the half off goals by Kyle Adams (St. Catherines, Ontario/St. Francis Catholic), Harris, and Greenberg with 09:50 remaining in the second quarter. O'Grady and Connor Pike then score tow unanswered goals to tie the game, 3-3, with 02:08 remaining in the half. Mount Union and John Carroll were even at the break.

Within the first ten minutes of the half, the Raiders went on a 4-2 run to go up by score of 7-5. Greenberg's goal at the 04:09 mark gave Mount Union the 7-5 lead going into the final quarter of play. Michael Muniak (Medina/Medina) scored to open the fourth quarter, making the score 8-5 with 14:04 remaining in the game. The Blue Streaks gained momentum in the later stage of the final quarter, scoring two unanswered goal with 07:07 remaining in the game to cut the deficit down to one (8-7). Harris' goal at the 01:30 mark in the fourth sealed the 9-8 victory for the Raiders.

Mount Union is back in action on Saturday, April 16th, as they travel to Wilmington for an OAC game. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
