Men's Lacrosse: Raiders Hold Off Wilmington for OAC Victory

WILMINGTON, Ohio—The Mount Union men's lacrosse team defeated Wilmington, 10-6, in an Ohio Athletic conference game on Saturday afternoon .

The Purple Raiders have now won six games in a row and stand at 9-2 overall and 4-0 in the OAC.

Mount Union was led offensively by Brent Greenberg (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) and Chris Daley (Wilmington, Del./Dupont) who each scored two goals as eight Raiders scored in the victory.

Wilmington, now 4-5 and 0-3 in the OAC, was led by Reid Delaney and Chris Hein with two goals each.

In the first half of play, Mount Union took command first when Grant Elffers (Hudson/Hudson) scored within the first five minutes of play. The Raiders extended their lead early in the second quarter when Daley scored with 12:35 remaining in the half. Mount Union stretched its lead out to 5-0 when Wilmington finally got on the board with a goal by Hein with 01:29 remaining in the half. The Raiders led 5-1 at the break.

Early in the second half, Greenberg's goal at the 07:59 mark gave Mount Union a 7-2 lead. The Raiders scored two more unanswered goals when the Quakers began to make a run. Wilmington when on a 4-2 run in the fourth quarter, but Mount Union held them off to seal the victory. For the game, The Raiders recorded 14 points and 34 groundballs.

Mount Union is back in action on Wednesday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. at Baldwin Wallace. The game features the only two remaining undefeated teams in conference play.
