Men's Lacrosse: Raiders Fall to Capital in OAC Contest

ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union men's lacrosse team fell to Capital, 11-3, in an Ohio Athletic Conference game on Saturday at Mount Union Stadium.

The Purple Raiders fall to 9-4 and 4-2 in the OAC while the Crusaders improve to 11-4 and 3-2 in the OAC.

Mount Union was led by Chris Daley (Wilmington, Del./Dupont) who contributed two goals in the effort. Daley also recorded a game-high nine groundballs.

Capital was led by Brent Walton who chipped in a game-high three goals.

In the first half of play, the Crusaders jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first quarter and never surrendered their command. Walton and Carson Paull each scored twice in the quarter to give Capital the early advantage. The Crusaders continued to gain momentum going into the second quarter, scoring three more unanswered goals to leave the Raiders scoreless at halftime. Capital led 7-0 at the break.

Daley got Mount Union on the board to begin the second half with a goal of his own at the 12:01 mark in the third quarter. Josh Stephens (North Canton/Green) also contributed a goal with 01:24 remaining in the quarter, to cut the deficit down to six (8-2). Though Mount Union made a run, Capital still outscored the Raiders 4-3 in the second half to clinch the victory.

Mount Union is back in action next Saturday, April 30th, when they travel to Otterbein for their final OAC game of the regular season. Game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
