Men's Lacrosse: Mount Union Dropped by Ohio Northern Saturday Afternoon

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's lacrosse team was dropped by Ohio Northern University 13-8 in an Ohio Athletic Conference meeting Saturday afternoon at Mount Union Stadium. 

The Purple Raiders (5-3, 1-1 OAC) were led by junior Brent Greenberg (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard), who scored four goals in the contest.

Ohio Northern's Max Weese recorded four goals to lead the Polar Bears (6-3, 1-0 OAC).

Greenberg got the Raiders on the board to even the score at one apiece at the 10:10 mark of the first quarter. Ohio Northern took a 3-1 lead before he struck again to cut the lead to one, 3-2, but two more goals by the Polar Bears had Mount Union trailing 5-2 at the end of 15 minutes.

Sophomore Kyle Adams (St. Catharines, Ontario/St. Francis Catholic) and senior Chris Daley (Wilmington, Del./Dupont) notched a goal apiece in the second quarter, but the Raiders were outscored 5-2 to trail at the break, 10-4. 

Daley tallied his second goal of the game just over two minutes into the third period to cut the score to five, 10-5, with 12:50 on the clock. The Polar Bears found the back of the Raiders' goal twice, taking a 12-5 lead with four minutes remaining. Greenberg scored his third goal of the game at the 3:10 mark to make the score 12-6 as the teams headed into the fourth quarter. 

The Raiders outscored Ohio Northern 2-1 in the final period. One of the goals came from Greenberg, while the other was recorded by Adams, his second of the game. Ohio Northern held its ground, resulting in a 13-8 loss for Mount Union.

Mount Union next travels to University Heights, Ohio to play OAC opponent John Carroll at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5.
